3. Serve a full-time mission [another update]

So... I'm pretty sure most of you already know, but just in case... I have been called to serve in the Utah Provo mission! I will be assigned to work in the St. George temple visitor's center, which I'm still waiting for some explantion about... The shocking part : I don't report until October!!! which is awesome! but also horrible! there are more pressing reasons for horrible right now, so please feel free to give me more pros! :)

I think that's the calmest I've been about it since my bishop said he was calling the stake president last night :p hahaha! ok... so maybe not cuz I did sit through choir without telling anyone...

Anyways... now we wait! You can go ahead and guess where I'll be going on my newly figured out Facebook group! :p

Double FAIL!!! 74. (Junk Food) and 53. (Sleep)

so I got pretty close for both of these and had an epic fail... partially my fault both times.  Ok... totally my fault both times...

74. I made the mistake of being pretty vague, so I was thinking about doing it over anyways... oh! but also my dad only had pop for us to drink at lunch during the move this past weekend... so... epic fail

53. I was about 3 days from passing this one!! mostly subconsciously actually! but then... I stayed on really late one night... and the next... and then it was Friday! and there was a dance in L-town!! so I had to go... and then I wanted to hang with friends... so... 3am rolled around... and then the next night I didn't want to sleep either... I wandered town and even creeped my friends' house! ... they seemed to be asleep... lame... I gave up and went home... sleeping by 1am... the night of the daylight savings time switch... epic fail!

... oh well! =D more to do later :)

75. Learn to, and make alfajores on my own for someone else

ok, so I didn't do it all by myself! but baking is no fun without someone else is what I've learned in the last year or so, so my brother and I made the alfajores for my mom and sister!  they both thought they were good! our first batch is almost all gone today! and we baked yesterday!!! Oh! and we're bringing Heather a couple of 'em too! :) I hope she likes them!! =D  I never realized how simple they are to make! just... time consuming and tedious too :p

PS- we made batch 2, it didn't last long either, but we also gave a couple away to visitors and other friends :) <3

85. Make meals that don’t involve rice for five days in a row

I actually didn't get to cook day 3 cuz I worked all day, but I took on an extra day at the end :)

Monday I made pizza with my brother and sister's help! :)  We even gave stuffed crust a try... and it wasn't amazing :p ... my bad

Tuesday I made pâté chinois (basically québécois shepherd's pie, so good!) for the missionaries! =D no one died and even my mom liked it this time! so it had to have been good! (she usually finds it too greasy)

Wednesday I ended up working overtime, so I didn't get to cook. :(  My brother made us spagettis though :) (they were yummy and he kept up the no rice-ness ^_^ )

Thursday I made beef stroganoff cuz my sister was away at choir camp and she doesn't like it :p I got teased for my using ground meat again :p but this time around it was actually elk meat, so I guess it was Elk Stroganoff? =D

Friday I made us arepas (it's these little fried ... corn patties? they're venezuelan http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dd/Arepas_de_huevo.jpg and you slice 'em open and stuff 'em with whatever you like :) ) to celebrate Nessa's return! =D we were almost out of deli meats though, so we had to suffice with just a lot of eggs and cheese to fill them with which wasn't bad, but next time I'll remember to check for the meats!

Saturday my mom wanted to make something with rice in it for dinner, so I got to make breakfast :) A classic! :) we actually ended up going out for dinner thanks to my cousin! :) Yay! Chinese!! :p <3

 

31. Play through an RPG

I played Kingdom Hearts!! and kicked it's butt!! It's a Disney mixed in with Final Fantasy characters game! =D and it's super cute and not bad for fun! but also really annoying... I realized there's a reason why I hadn't done this before :p haha! but I am super good at it!! well... kinda... I still have troubles jumping from one thing to another... thank goodness for gliding!! :p and for my brother who patiently helped me get through this game!! :p

This made me feel special :) <3

12. Give up the internet for 2 weeks (not included in mission time)

Due to circumstances involving trying to find a job, I had to do this over two separate weeks, so I might try it again later, but for now I will say it's been accomplished! =D ... and I need to find a picture of Ron! :)

What a pretty lappy ^_^ sitting there... cuz there's not a whole lot to do without the internet... well... there is... but not on a computer :p

6. Read Romeo and Juliet

I've now officially read Romeo and Juliet.  Somehow I skipped that in High School... and I know I wasn't missing much, but it's a classic... and one I wanted to read for a while... just cuz of all the frequentlly quoted text from it. :)  It's actually not half shabby I say :)  Anyone may oppose.  It's just my opinion.

By the way, the two books... I started with the Oxford Shakespeare one, and I was doing ok, but I found when they had their monologues, sometimes I'd lose interest, usually because of a lack of understanding, so when I realized my uncle had a version that had both the "original" text (I learned in the Oxford that apparently there was no original script, theirs was devised from what people said, wrote down, transcribed, etc.) and a modernized verision on the adjacent page.  It was great cuz I didn't have to read the lame modern version, I just had it there for those random inexplicable figures of speech.

[ 35. Write and send a letter once a week ] - update

I don't know how I'm going to fix this one cuz I can't go back in time, but there are some weeks I send off up to four letters, but then I go a week or two without writing... =/ any suggestions?

68. Make tamales

Lita taught Moni and I how to make 'em Friday!! =D and dare I say it's the best she's ever made... I say it's cuz Moni and I helped out! ;)  We made 36 total! and I reckon at least a dozen of 'em were eaten day of!  Oh! and for those of you who don't know... they're basically... meat (in this case pork and chicken) and an olive, sometimes a hot pepper slice and an egg slice, though not this time, wrapped in a cornmeal and spices mix :) so good when done well!

44. Go on a “date” with each of my direct family members #1

So I took my sister for sushi the night before Valentine's day... we were going to get a love boat, but we were not that hungry, and she didn't want to try all of the ones it came with, so we just got:

          Ebi Maki Norimaki              and  a half order of Prawn Tempura!!

Needless to say they were delicious! =D and we had some fun mixing things for the Maki! :) ... we actually asked for hot sauce to mix with the soya sauce :p it wasn't bad! and satisfied our want for a spicy something... but I think I liked the classic soya sauce with ginger and wasabi better :)

Funny story : to decide what kind of sushi to get we flipped a coin (like B-dette would!) and... it fell into my cup of water!! hahaha! ok... maybe not so funny when you tell the story, but hillarious at the time ;p

49. Have two jobs at once

I have two jobs!! I got out of work at ON today to go to BBW!! ... still working on pictures... and still working on getting a better second job ;) ... but I don't wanna jinx it, so details will come!

k! so that job didn't work out, but I do still have two jobs! =D one still at ON the other at iStock! =D  Not really working at the one though... :)

72. Write something in my journal every day for a month

I honestly thought I'd forget and have to restart all over again really close to the end, but once you get into a habit of it... well... I couldn't go to sleep without writing!!  I'm gunna keep this up! :) cuz it's defs helpful! :)

76. Learn to, and make, crema volteada

We had a Death by Chocolate activity in RS today! and I made it!! with instructions from my mommy! :) and it turned out good! ... I think it was the only not actually chocolate related dessert there ;p  [tastes better than it looks ;p I even got compliments! =D ]

24. Have “coffee” or a meal with a friend from elementary school

so... it was actually DQ drinks :) (I had an Arctic Rush ;) mmm cherry flavoured ;p) and we just sat and talked... mostly I listened :) and learned about what happened to a bunch of my old classmates :) <3 it's fun, sad, crazy, weird, amazing, etc. to see how much we all grew up.

77. Practice piano every day for 3 weeks

I even practiced the day after it was all done! I want to keep this up! The only problem is in my sister being quite annoyed at me whenever I do... but that's only a minor problem because generally I can practice when she's at school! :)

Yay!

PS- This is my beautiful piano! Whom I can't bring myself to name... and too many times is used as a doorside coffee table :( *hearts*

56. Successfully make aji de gallina

I did it!!! I wanted it for my birthday, and my mom was going to come home after church today to make it for me, but having watched people make it about... 3 times in the last few months... I thought I'd give it a whack! and oh man! apparently it was actually pretty good!!  My auntie had seconds!! and as you will see... there weren't many leftovers!

It's weird... but somehow I feel I'm not making any big dents in this list!!! so... I thought I'd write out what I'm working on... and then some I think I'll try soon :)

2. Read the Bible
I've started! in french...? I don't know... it has a different ring to it... so I'm excited! :)

3. Serve a full-time mission
I can't send my papers 'til I get a job!!! :( but I trust the Lord will provide if I keep looking! :)

6. Read Romeo and Juliet
I took out The Oxford Shakespeare - The Complete Works, Second Edition from the library, so I've started reading!! =D... and kinda hope I can make the time for a few other plays! :)

8. Share testimony with someone every fast Sunday for a year
Well... I have! though I tend to just get up and share it with everyone in the congregation or in Relief Society cuz well... I don't know... I guess I'm just not looking hard enough for others to share with

11. Climb five new trees
I'm up to two

12. Give up the internet for two weeks
I did a week! and then I caved cuz I really need a job... so I'm still not sure if I'll just do one more week later or a full two...

31. Play through an RPG
The lack of work has led to lunacy... I'm working on Kingdom Hears ;p

There have been weeks where I write up to three... and I am gunna say they count for the few weeks I haven't written

40.  Not eat junk food for a month
My mom wants to lose some weight, so after the birthday rush, we're gunna do it! She wants to go for two months...

Fabric has been found... and the skirt type I want too... so now I just have to make a pattern... or pick a different dress! but! I think I want it done for sweethearts :)

49. Have two jobs at once
So... it seems I have no job right now... but! in fact I do! I just don't get ANY hours! so... once I find a job that gives me hours, I'll technically have two jobs

52. Learn to play and be able to sing along to a song on guitar
I have found a cute song with just two chords! ... so I'm working on lyrics, and being able to switch between the two chords with ease :p

53. Go to sleep before midnight for two consecutive weeks
I've tried this one and failed too many times... but I'll get it...

56. Successfully make aji de gallina
My grandma taught me how, and I've already forgotten, but we're making it again tomorrow, so I'll take notes this time! :p and then! I plan my peruvian party! =D

64. Go carolling twice a winter season
I went this winter! :) 5 times at school! and then once actually out and about :)

72. Write something in my journal every day for a month
Day 11! :D

Got me a copy! so I started! :D

12 days left! I hope my siblings don't go insane :p

15 Miles is amazing... heard I think... most of their originals... can't wait for the next gig!

I'm not taking lessons or anything... but I've been out to the rink now! :) and doing better than I remembered! so... it'll get there! :)

94. Learn to apply eye make up properly
Once again... not taking lessons, but I've been experimenting! and there's deffinately been progress! :) wanna try a few more things before I can say I've got it! :)

Well you've seen 'em!! :D

There's also plans being stewed about having a friends camping trip next month where we'd snow shoe and ice fish! ... I really hope it happens! =D

Oh! and I'm almost certain the temple won't be dedicated before my return! *thumbs up!!*

Oh wow... k! so... apparently I am getting more done than I remember! :)  That's pretty encouraging! =D

61. Watch the three High School Musicals back to back and sing along to every song

yes... I tortured my siblings this past Sunday! hahaha!! My sister had to keep on reminding me when a song was going! :p hahaha!! and... we made TOO much popcorn... well... not really, but we had to make a second batch cuz we forgot our grandma was still up upstairs, and when she came down she was not impressed that we hadn't offered her any! haha! Also! my parents showed up for the third movie! and they brought us a bit of chinese take out! it was pretty good... haha! so... Thanks to these two lovely kids! and thanks to the Cs who lent me their copies haha! :) <3

58. Wash dishes without being asked once a week for two months

I have done it... there's not a whole lot special... except that I think it's more fun/even enjoyable when you play fun music too! :)  Umm... I suppose I have to take a picture of me washing dishes... so check back for that! :p
